Dear Joy:
It has been some time since you and I spoke regarding
Daniel Spatz as a candidate for Converse’s Head Tennis
Coach. I know that Daniel also has a desire to continue
his community-based tennis program in Spartanburg, SC. I
believe that this community outreach on the Converse
campus could be a great recruitment and public relations
tool for the college.
In the three years that Oakbrook has graduated students
the school has already produced some of Converse’s top
freshmen like Anna Lockamy and Lisa Godenick, full
academic scholars. With a great athletic program and an
Oakbrook tennis team on the horizon, we can only hope to
produce future scholar athletes for Converse.
Daniel Spatz is a world-class tennis coach with
extensive connections in the world tennis community,
including many private U.S. clubs that, again, would
have excellent candidates for Converse. Moreover, he has
made quite an impact on the lives of the people he has
taught right here in Spartanburg, including my family. I
have attached a few short letters of recommendation from
families in Spartanburg County with children in public
and private schools.
All the best in your search,

Daniel Spatz has a passion for
teaching the game of tennis. He works with the same
intensity and commitment with players of all levels,
always inspiring you to do your best and never give up
in the face of adversity. He has a clear understanding
of what a player needs to move up to the next level.
Coach Daniel has taught us so much more than just good
technique, better strokes and faster feet.... He has
taught us how to better human beings!

Daniel has been an inspiration to me and my three
children. He has helped my game tremendously. We have
worked with other coaches before and have seen an
significant difference in our overall game. Daniel knows
how to coach the physical and mental game of tennis.

Every time I came to clinic with Daniel it was
challenging and fun [which was twice a week] because he
always tried to bring something new for us to learn. You
could tell he had planned ahead on what he thought we
needed to work on, so I never got in a rut of feeling
like I was doing the same thing over and over. Also out
of all the times I came to clinic he always seemed to be
just as excited to be there as I was.

I met Daniel Spatz 2 years ago when I went looking for a
tennis instructor for my nine year old daughter. I have
watched her improvement and love of the game blossom. I
was so impressed with Daniel's teaching style I started
to play tennis too! As an adult I have loved learning a
new sport with the added excitement of competition.
Daniel teaches with his heart and soul. His love and
passion for the game is contagious!
I am so happy that he desires to stay in the area and
continue teaching. He is an asset to the entire upstate
community.

Playing tennis for more than three decades has brought
me great joy. However, there has never been a time of
greater joy than learning more about tennis under the
instruction of Daniel Spatz. He has an extreme passion
for the game. He teaches tennis dynamics with an
enthusiasm that supercedes any other professional.
Daniel's depth of the many aspects of teaching all areas
of the game surpass the typical professional coach.
Learning from the best can only improve your game. His
attitude about sportsmanship is a gift and is rarely
taught by others in the tennis world. Understanding the
complexities of this great sport is Daniel's forte. His
ability to teach students of all ages and to pass on the
love he has for tennis is unmatched. It is a blessing to
learn and drill under his guidance.

I feel privileged to have Daniel Spatz teaching in our
area. His credentials
are endless - his experience, knowledge and skill of the
game are
impeccable. These are certainly important, but Daniel
possesses something
far greater - A true PASSION that radiates every time he
steps onto the
court. It is a love for the game that becomes so
contagious to his students
that it motivates them to strive for more to reach their
full
potential.
